US Military General States Iraqi Police Is Rejuvenated
The Iraqi National police used to be known for its bad performance, and was known for its unreliability, but that has all changed, and is now in the past. The United States Military has worked to give the members of the Iraqi Police a new reputation, as well as training for their new role in securing the Country.
The Iraq National Police was once considered a corrupt, inefficient organization that was tainted by ethnic sectarian and religious politics. Now, it has been remade into a modern, reliable and democratic based professional force. This is because of the length and depth of the training that the Coalition soldiers have given to the recruits, and also the long time police officers of the Iraqi National police.
No organization changed entirely overnight, and many of the senior officers that could not fit in had to be eventually discharged. Many went into other lines of work, and a few applied and were accepted as recruits, and have been totally vetted and retrained, but started over from the bottom.

Because of this, the citizens have slowly come to trust the Iraqi Police force again. Lieutenant General Frank Helmick from the US Army multinational forces visited with members of the media, and talked about how the Iraqi National police are now the force of choice for security of the region.
