US Marines, Iraq Army, And Iraqi Police Work Cooperatively As the security in Iraq gets better and better, and the local citizens become used to having safety and security, the rule of law becomes more of a reality. Members of the 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 5 have been working with members of the Iraqi Army, and the Iraqi National Police to prosecute criminals in Iraq. The Regiment of Marines has been working to provide training in criminal investigations, and giving a background in law enforcement. The idea of bringing criminals to trial is new for many members of the Iraq legal system but they are embracing the idea with enthusiasm. Before the battalion combat deployment began, the Iraqi legal community was nearly non-existent in the region, but it has been growing, using members of the Iraq National Police as investigators, and trained lawyers that are members of the Community to build a new legal organization. The different legal programs that are being constructed utilize Iraqi law, and are slowly taking shape. US Marines give classes to different members of the ISF forces to help them adjust to law enforcement responsibilities, as well as teaching them how to deal with the public and criminals respecting their civil rights. Do You Have Prior Service? Get Cash Bonuses For Your Past Military Service. Click here for more information. It is a slow process but one that is taking shape, and will feature the ability of the Iraqi legal system to function independently in the feature.
