Iraqi Security Forces Take The Reins

Battalion Of Iraq Soldiers Assume Al Anbar Security Responsibility

Its especially nice when things that formerly were in really bad shape change, and begin to go well.

The security of the Al Anbar province was the scene of some of the worst fighting in Iraq about a year ago, insurgents had set up different safe houses, and had a large amount of weapons. They used these weapons to attack and cause a large amount of havoc in the entire Al Anbar region.

All that has changed. The success of the Iraqi Security Forces in maintaining the safety and security of the region has resulted in troops assuming control, the Iraqi Forces for security responsibility have taken over.

The area near the region of Rutbah was the center of the security responsibility, and the 8,000 square kilometer region is now securely in Iraqi control.

The soldiers are in control of the area, and Marine Corps have acted to support the Iraqi Security forces. At least twice a week the soldiers have worked jointly to perform patrols, and there has been a marked difference in how the citizens respond.
