Admiral Mullen Confident Regarding Future Of Coalition Troops
As the Iraqi Security Forces continue to get better and better at their jobs, the Coalition has not had to give as much time to security procedures. The job of security has been slowly transformed, and given over to the Iraqi Security Forces. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Navy Admiral Mike Mullen traveled to Iraq recently to meet with the government of Iraq and leaders of the Iraqi Security Forces.
Part of the visit by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs has been to discuss the various operations by the coalition, operations in addition to security actions. There has been a marked increase of humanitarian operations by the coalition forces.
Because they have not had to work at security, after securing the majority of the nation and slowly giving the responsibility of security sector by sector, and province by province.
Admiral Mullen was upbeat as he toured the region, and inspected the coalition forces. He also met with members of the Iraq Security Forces, and was able to respond to questions about the future of US Forces in Iraqi.
“There is a lot of debate about the future of American Soldiers in Iraq, and I think that is healthy,” said Admiral Mullen.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has been meeting with leaders in the Iraqi Government to try and figure out the specific schedule of withdrawal, and the numbers of soldiers that will remain long term in Iraq.
