New Court House Opens In Baghdad

Coalition Civil Affairs Aids In Justice Center Completion

As the security situation has continued to get better and better, the different groups working for the Iraq government have had a commitment toward the rule of law.

The rule of law just got a shot in the arm with a newly completed civil Justice Center that was built in Baghdad. Members of the US Army Corps of Engineers completed the new $11.3 million dollar Justice facility.

The Higher Judicial Council and Court system in Baghdad have now moved in to the new Justice Center, it’s a brand new facility that will allow the Iraqi Court officials to work and do their jobs in a facility that supports their efforts.

The Chief Justice of Iraq, Chief Justice Medhat was thankful for the new facility, and for the aid that it gives to establish and fulfill the rule of Law in Iraq.

In particular, Justice Medhat gave thanks to the actions and efforts of the coalition in building and construction of the new facility.

He gave special recognition to the Army Corps of engineers for not only the workmanship, but the different ways that they observed and worked into the construction different elements of Iraq Culture and observation of different Iraq and Muslim tradition.

The new Justice Center will serve about 1.2 million people of the region, and of the Rusafa Qada, and other areas located to the west of the Tigris River.
