US Army Scouts Provide National Training
The training and preparation for the Iraqi National Police used to be hit or miss, and the training was such that the police were not held in high regard by the citizens or the community. The citizens did not trust or like the police, and the police regarded the citizens often with derision and scorn.
That has all changed. The professionalism and ability of the Iraqi national police has increased because they are now trained and supervised by the coalition. Members of the US Army and US Marine Corps train and supervise the Iraqi police, and the police have earned the trust and respect of the local Iraqi community.
The US Army scouts of Troop B, 1st battalion, 10th field artillery regiment give both beginning and advanced training to members of the Iraqi National police.
The Iraqi police are eager students, and they work very hard to learn. The ability of the Iraqi police have grown, and they deal with the community more successfully as time goes on.
The coalition is pleased with the progress of the ISF forces, and they have helped the Iraqi police understand the importance of the trust of the community. As the police have proven themselves worthy of this trust their success has increased, mainly because the information and cooperation level has increased a great deal.
