One of the groups that has existed for over 100 years that supports the Servicemembers and Veterans of the US Military is the VFW, or the Veterans of Foreign Wars Organization. The VFW, or veterans of foreign wars organization also gives support and often helps facilitate veterans in applying and receiving their full benefits that they qualify for.
One large benefit that veterans are eligible for is support for any service connected injury or illness. The VA hospital offers care and medical support for veterans, and is funded by the federal government. Membership in the VFW entails a free VFW member honor roll listing, and you are eligible to join the Pentagon Federal Credit Union. Military personnel can rest assured that after their service commitment is up and they separate that there are benefits that they qualify for and can receive. The VFW facilities are located in local communities, they sometimes will meet in after hours in a conference room or facility that is used for official military business during the day, or they typically have their own facilities located in communities across the United States. There are a number of life insurance and car insurance programs, as well as insurance for medical supplementary care to supplement the VA care available to veterans.

The VFW holds clinics and meetings to help newly separated Veterans sign up for services with the VA, it is one way to get help for free in signing up for services that a member qualifies for.
