Army Radar Repair personnel are responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing and operating Radar and communications systems found in Army installations and Army facilities worldwide. At Radar repair school you will learn about electronic principals and concepts, the use and ability of various electronic test equipment. Advanced level Radar repairers work to train and supervise junior enlisted Radar specialists. The Army Radar Repair technician is an important member of the maintenance and communications repair team. After you are through with Basic Combat training you will attend 45 weeks of individual advanced training for Radar Operator and Repair school. Civilian jobs working with radios, electronic repair and other private firm electronics type jobs are available after your career in the Army is over. You will learn how to repair and work on Radar equipment, and learn about keeping detailed equipment and radar logs, maintaining and operating missile tracking, air defense, and air traffic control systems as well as troubleshooting and repairing them on occasion. You will attend training in two phases, phase one will involve classroom training in concepts and skills, and phase two will be training involved in simulated combat and battlefield repair situations, where you will put into practice the training which you received.

Job training for an Army Radar repair technician includes of course attending boot camp for 9 weeks the same as for any US Army enlisted Servicemember. Part of your advanced training will include how to replace and repair subsystems of radar equipment, inspection and test techniques, and how to trouble shoot advanced communications and radar equipment.
