Coalition Aids New Police Recruits

The number of Iraqi Police have been growing, recently 3,000 new police officers were inducted into the ranks at a Kirkuk province ceremony. The ceremony was held last Tuesday at the Kirkuk police Academy and included 58 female officers as part of the new graduate class.

The combined efforts of the Coalition and the Iraqi ministry of the Interior have resulted in the positive success. Leaders in the audience included US Army Major General Mark P. Hertling, Brigadier General James C. Boozer Sr, Brigadier General Tony Thomas, and Colonel David Paschal.

Each of these senior officers hold various positions in the senior Multi National Force located in Iraq, and they have been crucial in the overall leadership efforts assisting the police in their growth.

The coalition has been working closely to train and instruct the members of the Kirkuk province police, and their efforts is bearing fruit. They have worked to give different Servicemembers a opportunity to maintain and expand their police forces, and the Iraqi Police have had success in learning how to be their own police trainers.

The Kirkuk police Academy instructors placed a wreath during the ceremony to honor the members from the Iraq police, as well as members of the Coalition forces that have sacrificed their lives to support their community.
