Different Faiths Gather Supported By Coalition There has been a lot of different conflict between different Iraq religious groups in the past. Recently, members of Shia, Sunni, even members of the Iraqi Christian groups joined together to share a meal in eastern Baghdad. They met to share a Iftar meal, more than 300 guests met representing the 9 different districts. The evening meal event was successful, and it is a healthy symbol of what can be done in spite of difference in religious belief, and how things can be cooperative. Several different dignitaries addressed the assembled meal guests. There were readings from the Koran, and the Bible, and religious leaders praised the ability of people of different faiths to gather in safety and in unity. Major Cloyd Colby is the brigade chaplain for the 4th BCT, 10th Mountain Division, and he said that the clergy from several communities in Iraq were all invited, it didn’t matter if it was Christian, Shia, or Sunni. The event took place and it was one example of how much different life is in the region from how it was even a year ago. The ability of the local society, as well as the religious leadership to support and allow this event is proof that Iraq is healing, even if its is slow. Find the Military Career right for YOU !
