Coalition Trains Kazakhstani Soldiers

Iraqi Army Receives EOD Military Training

One of the requirements for the ability of the Iraqi Army to grow and become independent of the coalition has been to find quality training for the Iraqi Soldiers in the areas of EOD and explosives.

Recently soldiers from the Kazakhstani contingent met with a number of Iraqi Army units to train them for EOD and explosives work. The Kazakhstani soldiers are mostly all graduates of military academies and have experience working with different types of explosives. Because of this they sat down and worked to train the Iraqi Army units.

The in depth training consisted of both classroom type training, and followed by a controlled detonation and in the field training. The in the field training consisted of both Kazakhstani and Iraq soldiers participating in the training exercises.

Procedures for locating, disarming, and destroying unexploded ordinance, as well as the use and safe implementation of explosives to destroy certain devices was covered. We also covered how to transport explosives and how explosives are used safely, and their basic chemical composition.
