Three Significant Coalition Water Projects In Process
As the Erbil province continues to become more and more secure, the level of infrastructure and projects being completed by the coalition continue to increase. One of the biggest efforts is in the ongoing increase of water that is being provided to the citizens.
Now there are about 3 or 4 hours of water per day for the local 40,000 people according to Younnis Talib.
Mr. Talib is the project engineer for the Erbil Resident office of water. The area is a short distance from the Iranian border and it benefits from a natural Sakran spring water that flows into a recently constructed catchment. It is located near a 5.5 mile pipeline that carries it to a 450 cubic meter holding tank.
Nearby another pipeline that stretches about five miles from the reservoir to the town of Chorman and two other nearby villages, where it connects to an existing water network.
The water is enough to meet the needs of these local residents because the demand for water is not as high as it is for the villagers of Erbil, for example, according to Mr. Talib.
Local farmers have blocked some of the construction in the past because of a disagreement but it was worked out and with a mutual agreement construction was started again.
