Coalition Gives Iraqi Army Assistance

Better Firearms More Iraqi Soldiers And Stronger Procedures

The Iraqi National Army is developing into a modern professional military force, and a large part of this is due to the influx of modern equipment, weapons, aircraft and improved training. As part of the process of gradually withdrawing from Iraq, the Coalition has been focusing on helping the Iraq Army prepare for the time when the Coalition is no longer on scene.

The capabilities of the Iraq Army has been growing by leaps and bounds, and part of the process has been a lot of hard focused work on the part of the Iraqi individual soldier. The training is available, but if not for the dedication by the members of the Iraqi Army in working to study new methods, and training, then there would literally not be a renewed and improved Iraqi Military.

Bases have been set up where vehicles can be overhauled, where supplies can be picked up, and where different Iraqi Army units can be resupplies. The coalition has soldiers that are embedded with different Iraqi units, and these soldiers work to supervise, assist and counsel the members of the Iraqi military.

It has been successful, in many ways more than could have been imagined. The Iraq Army has transitioned from a rather backwards force with little equipment and even less training, to modern equipped fighting force with modern training and instruction in how to fight, and how to deal with civilians in a positive manner.
