Getting an education is a important step for most people, and some of the best opportunities available are using the US military. There are a fairly large number of programs that support going to school in the United States Military, if you are looking for a way to finance school then considering the programs that are offered by the military is a first step. Many people look at joining the US Military as a patriotic thing to do in the era of 9-11, but it also has its justification and lucrative options for people that are seeking an education.
There are many things that are successful in seeking an education. Many programs involve being on active duty, but there are programs that are supportive of the Reserves, too. Some of the different programs available include: Loan Repayment- This is where a portion or all of your guaranteed student loans that you take out as a student can be repaid, in part or in full, by the service that you join or enlist with. Depending on which of the Armed Services you join, you may be eligible for loan repayment. The chances that are available to get your schooling paid for makes service in the military an attractive option for many young people today. The opportunity to serve in the military offers its own rewards, however getting an education also make it even more attractive. Tuition Assistance- This program does reduce the amount of Montgomery GI bill funding you are eligible for, but it is often faster to put into effect if you are looking to attend school immediately. Qualified full time active duty Servicemembers can have up to 100 percent of their college tuition paid for. Each of the 5 Armed services has a version of this program. Applying for and joining the service can also sometimes make you available for other educational benefits, sometimes you may qualify for more than one type of benefit or funding. Montgomery GI Bill- There is one Montgomery GI bill for active duty military Servicemembers, and one GI bill also for those who choose to serve in the Reserves. The amount that is available for active duty Servicemembers is up to 1100 dollars a month for training or school, the amount for Reservists is a reduced amount.

One of the main themes to financing your education in the military has to be the Montgomery GI Bill. Reservists still qualify for about 300 dollars a month for training or schooling under the Montgomery Reserve GI Bill. An offshoot of the original Servicemen’s Veteran College Program, the Montgomery GI bill has been repeatedly tweaked and updated by Congress to offer more benefits than were ever offered before.
