Qualified full time active duty Servicemembers can have up to 100 percent of their college tuition paid for. Each of the 5 Armed services has a version of this program. Applying for and joining the service can also sometimes make you available for other educational benefits, sometimes you may qualify for more than one type of benefit or funding. Montgomery GI Bill- There is one Montgomery GI bill for active duty military Servicemembers, and one GI bill also for those who choose to serve in the Reserves. The amount that is available for active duty Servicemembers is up to 1100 dollars a month for training or school, the amount for Reservists is a reduced amount.

One of the main themes to financing your education in the military has to be the Montgomery GI Bill. Reservists still qualify for about 300 dollars a month for training or schooling under the Montgomery Reserve GI Bill. An offshoot of the original Servicemen’s Veteran College Program, the Montgomery GI bill has been repeatedly tweaked and updated by Congress to offer more benefits than were ever offered before.
