Patrol Base Control Assumed By Iraqi Army

Patrol Base Shanghai Now Under Iraqi Army Control

Another of the different facilities in the forward area of Iraq has been handed over to the Iraqi Army in a ceremony on September 30th. Forward Patrol Base Shanghai is now under the operational control of the Iraqi Army, and the coalition is very pleased at its return.

In spite of the ceremony and the pomp and circumstance of the event, the commander of the Iraqi Army unit that took over the base sees it as another step in the process of taking responsibility for their own nation.

“Today the Iraqi Army unit is having a typical day, and we are pleased to be in the condition to be able to hand off the base effectively. We owe a great debt Iraqi Brothers brothers,” said Captain Joshua Gaspard. Captain Gaspard is the leader of the Coalition unit handing off control of the patrol base.

“Muhammad and his soldiers are some of the best soldiers that the Iraqi Army has trained, there are none that I have seen that are better,” said Captain Gaspard.

2nd Lieutenant Muhammad is the commander of the Iraqi Army unit that is assuming control of Patrol Base Shanghai.
