Women Of Adhamiyah Join Volunteer Guard

Females Work Hard With New Guard Force

The different ladies of the Adhamiyah region all have a lot of different motivation, but the one thing that they have in common is they love their country and their families. Recently 20 Iraqi women came to a well lit room in the Baghdad, and in the Iraqi Capital they waited to be addressed by the leader of the volunteer guard.

The women joined together to learn such tasks as how to fire and clean an AK-47, and as they were shown how to disassemble it and put it back together they laughed, and learned not only how to deal with different mechanical issues, but also began to be bonded together.

In the past the role of women has been one that has been exclusively in the home. But things are changing. Women are starting to participate in home security, government, and other issues.

The coalition has been leading a four day course, from October 8th to 11th, and was led by the 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, who was very pleased with the growth and progress of the women in the volunteer Guard.

Women are not only valuable for defense, but also in search. Women are not able to be searched by men without causing a serious social offense, so having women stationed at checkpoints is very valuable.
