Coalition Creates Local Irrigation Project

Local Unity Achieved With Joint Efforts

One of the local projects that has been accomplished by the coalition working in conjunction with the Iraqi government has been a series of pump stations and irrigation trenches along the Euphrates River.

Members of the 134th Brigade support battalion worked with local contractors to give support and to dredge irrigation canals for local farms for a distance of up to 15 kilometers from the Euphrates River itself.

The project and the generators themselves will improve the ability of farmers to grow and produce agriculture products, and will bring life to an area that is otherwise barren.

The desolate setting is improved immediately when water is brought into the circuit, it brings life and the local population gives a lot of enthusiasm to the agricultural items.

Soldiers immediately began to see the difference in the area, and in the local citizens as a result of the canals, which bring life giving water and irrigation. In addition, the pumps give a certain amount of water to be used for drinking and other purposes.

The construction has also given a lot of momentum to rebuilding efforts, and it gives the community a lot of encouragement. It gives the community support to resist insurgents and terrorist activity, much more than in the past.
