US Army Aviation Operation Careers

The Aircraft Operations and Aviation specialist are responsible for dispatching and scheduling aircraft missions, both supply and tactical missions. If you have an interest or aptitude in computers, and work well with office machinery and office machines, and you deal with people in-group setting well this may be a good job for you. These craft fly missions and perform Army operations each and every day. Accurate information and flight details help keep these functions efficient and operations safe. Training begins with Basic Combat Training for 9 weeks, where you will study and learn to become an Army enlisted person. After your basic training you will advance to Aviation Operations individual advanced training, where you will spend 6 weeks in simulated combat situations, as well as classroom training. You will be required often to deal with classified material, and you may have to qualify for a security clearance. Each day the Army operates one of the most varied, complex fleets of aircraft found in the world. It is a large fleet of combat planes, passenger, transport and supply aircraft, helicopter and various other aircraft. Work as an Aviation Army Operations specialist is interesting and varied. You will keep logs of outgoing and incoming flights, post and interpret weather reports, and maintain functional files and individual flight records. Operations Aviation specialists provide and prepare flight information for ground crews and aircrew members. You will work with personnel on various levels and you will deal with many different types of situations in flight and aircraft scheduling. You will learn to prepare situation maps, learn how to report flight procedures and flight violations, and supervise and transfer different types of classified materials. Some of the responsibilities and job activity that you will be involved in as a Army Aviation Operations specialist are coordinating flight plans, alerting emergency flight crews of emergency conditions, to process and file flight clearances, flight plans and cross country and local flight routes, to issue schedules and air crew flight assignments, and to safeguard classified materials.
