Village Citizens Lead Soldiers To Weapons

Explosives And Guns Turned Over To Joint Forces

The villagers have been more and more supportive of the Iraqi Security Forces, and the coalition. Recently there has been a number of different citizen tips that have been successful in uncovering different hidden caches of weapons and explosives.

On October 18th, there was a local man that came forward, and led the ISF forces and coalition joint patrol to a particularly large cache of weapons. There were a number of mortars, mortar rounds, as well as nearly 400 pounds of raw dynamite and explosive materials that were designed to be used as roadside IEDs and car bombs.

One of the biggest successes has been the ability of the coalition and the ISF forces to enlist the help of the local citizens. At first the members of the community in and around Baghdad, and throughout the region were slow to trust, after the horrible treatment they received at the hands of the regime of Saddam Hussein.
