Bagdad Neighborhood Grows In Safety

Joint Patrols Yield Increased Security

The Iraqi Police are improving the security that they have in the Al Karkh district. The Salhiya neighborhood is comprised of the Sunni and Shia citizens and residents and it contains several different other ethnic groups. Despite the diversity and differences the area has been more and more secure as the groups have slowly learned to work together with their National police.

The Tigris River borders the area, and it has been one of the methods of response that the coalition and the Iraqi police have used to respond to different incidents. The Iraqi police and security forces have a number of swift response watercraft, and they have put them into use to respond when there have been different criminal or other incidents.

The whole neighborhood has been made safer since the overall response of the Iraq security forces has increased. Law enforcement personnel, as well as Iraqi Army personnel have dealt with the citizens and improved the response quality, as well as using patrols using vehicles and watercraft.

It has grown into a security response by the Iraqi Army that has worked to assist citizens as well as the police. Side by side service by the Iraqi Army at checkpoints has proved to be a great success, and it has given additional access to criminals and insurgents that otherwise would not have been easy to catch.
