Roads And Wells Built Along With Other Projects

The work of rebuilding and constructing Iraq from the ground up is progressing at full speed, and economic prosperity is not far behind.
Members of the 2nd Brigade Combat embedded BCT reconstruction Provincial team working with Iraqi contractors and local citizens are slowly but surely improving the roads and rebuilding them. “In addition to building the roads, we are slowly helping the market and agriculture in the area,†stated Captain Love of the ePRT. Captain Love is the military liason for the ePRT.
Adwaniyah, Al Buaytha, Hawr Rajab, and Arab Jabour are all villages and regions in an agricultural based area. The road and other rebuilding improvements will help the movement of goods and crops throughout the entire area.
“What we are doing with the roads will help open up the rural areas to the main highway,†said First Lieutenant Nicholas Turner. Lieutenant Turner is with the 2nd Brigade, Third Troops Battalion, and ePRT specialist in Road Repair. The repair and improvement work started in October, and is focused currently on the routes between these communities.
There are a total of five projects that are being accomplished in the construction, including those that are slated to being in January 2008. The local contractors used are given an average of sixty days to complete the work.
Local Iraqi leadership and local citizens decided the priority of each road and the route to be repaired. The decision as to which roads are to receive asphalt is largely determined by the traffic on each road.
