Yarmouk Forces Discover Weapons Cache

Joint Coalition Forces Work For Success With Iraqi Soldiers

There was a large amount of weapons that was discovered in the Yarmouk region recently by a joint patrol made up of Iraqi Security Forces and Coalition Soldiers. The cache was made up of both raw bomb making materials as well as a large number of IED type explosives.

The cache was transferred to the joint forces as a result of the information supplied by several members of the local Iraqi Citizen group. Their involvement has helped make the difference in recent fighting, giving accurate and timely information to the Iraq and Coalition forces. More than 150 land mines, 9 rockets, 12 mortars, and over 3000 rounds of machine gun and AK 47 rifle ammunition were discovered, as well as a number of ammo boxes filled with electronics and assorted explosives.

It was the largest weapons cache found to date by either coalition or Iraq forces in the region, and it was turned over to Joint Security Station Torch soldiers, who transported the cache to EOD soldiers for disposal. It is continued proof that the support of the citizens has began to turn, and that they are being not only supportive in word but also in deed and action.
