Sons Of Iraq Complete Training Phase One
Another group of Police candidates recently completed their training at the Al Furat Iraqi Police Academy training Center in Baghdad. It was a class of nearly 1,000 police graduates, heavily made up of members of former Sons of Iraq members.
The program registered members and citizens for the recent class on October 31st, and out of the close to 1,000 people about 608 different Sons of Iraq applied and were ultimately accepted into the program to become new trained police officers.
Each of the graduate recruits now will be assigned to different police facilities across Iraq, and will receive additional training once they are assigned to their individual police station.
The four week training is similar in some ways to basic training for the military, except the training focuses on police skills, dealing with the public, firearm training and other related police type training.
The first weeks of training also gave orientation to the candidates on how to deal with the Iraqi community, and it has been a successful training program that has now trained several thousand members of the current Iraqi police force.
The student are exposed to human rights, and the different areas of dealing diplomatically with difficult situations.

Much of this type of training is new for the members of the police, who have not had to know how to treat people fairly, or what it means to respect their civil rights.
