Citizens Give Support To Coalition Soldiers
In a large scale change, the members of the community in Ramadi have come to accept, even in some cases embrace the US and coalition troops in the area. The soldiers have progressed long past the days where they kicked in doors and were a hostile force.
Now, for the most part the soldiers are greeted with a smile and a wave, and a hearty backslap in some cases by store owners and shopkeepers that have gotten to know the soldiers. Much of the insurgency has disappeared, either melted into the woodwork, or been chased away, or arrested or killed by security forces operating in the Ramadi region.
This has led to an increase of positive relationships, between the Coalition forces and the members of the community. It is a slow process, the process of winning hearts and minds, but the members of the Coalition are seemingly able to make that transition, after many months of a rocky relationship with the local communities across Iraq.
Much of this has been due to the fact that in 12 of the 18 provinces the Iraq security forces are now primary, and the responsibility for the security and safety of the people of Iraq are the job of the Iraqi Government.

This has given the coalition the ability to focus on rebuilding, assisting and even providing sums of money to the community to use in rebuilding efforts.
