Al Anbar Enjoys Economic Resurgence

Economic And Industry Grows In Province

The basic needs of the Al Anbar community has become a more pressing issue to the coalition in the last year, because of their release from overall security responsibility. Because the forces of the Iraqi Security have taken over, the coalition is able to deal with people more on an individual basis.

Recently there have been a couple different quality of life programs, one involving reconstruction of Al Anbar and the other involving the construction of a new electrical power station, which has gone online in Baghdad recently.

The coalition has become an active and assertive partner with the Iraqi Government in helping to identify different needs of the community, and then looking to find different ways to meet these needs.

The US has set aside an additional $360 million dollars to assist in specific programs in the Al Anbar region, and the planning and construction effort continues full force. Reconstruction is a project that continues to face challenges, but as the coalition is able to have better and better relationships with the local community, they are able to identify the projects and needs that are the most important and that should be done first.
