Despite setbacks at times, the overall response of the Iraqi community and nation has slowly built up to the point where the nation itself seems to be enjoying a resurgence of patriotism. The members of the local communities across Iraq, as well as the Iraqi Army, the Iraqi National police, and the Iraqi Government all seem to have a strong resolve to be responsible for their own security, and their own healing of their nation.
Recently two explosions occurred that seemed to target civilians close to the Baghdad International Airport, and there have also been some isolated attacks aimed at several Muslim holy sites, seemingly designed to try and stir up passions and cause dissention among the community in Baghdad.
These efforts have been disturbing, but they only seem to give the members of the community and the members of the Iraqi Security forces more resolve. In many different ways the members of the Iraqi community and ISF forces have been choosing to “step up to the plate” showing an increased willingness to do what it takes and to count the cost to make sure that Iraqi freedom and security is observed.
Despite these terror attacks, many members of the Iraqi community are still lining up to join the National police and Army, and they seem to have a strong commitment to both themselves and their new nation.
