Mosul Forces Repel Insurgent Attack

Joint Iraqi Security And Coalition Soldiers Join In Effort

In a surprising outbreak of activity in the Mosul region, an attack was repelled fairly easily by joint forces last week. The type of attack was mortar fire, which has not been seen as much in the last 12 months as was seen at first, before the coalition surge.

It has become a total joint security team effort, with most of the heavy lifting being assumed by the members of the Iraqi Security forces, with the members and soldiers of the coalition being used mostly as backup.

The Iraqi team which led the response showed a level of professionalism and confidence that was surprising to the coalition, and one that pleased the US coalition leaders very much. The provinces have been given over to the Iraqi Government , so far 12 of the 18 Iraqi provinces have been given back to the Iraqi Security forces and the Iraqi government to be responsible for.

The people of Mosul are in capable hands of the Iraqi forces, and the attack was repelled fairly easily, contrasting with the type of attacks in the past that took several hours to repell, or that did in the past heavy damage.

Police stations, Joint security stations, as well as a number of checkpoints have seemed to make most of the difference in the Mosul region, along with the response of the typical Iraqi Citizen.
