Kirkuk Mission Flexibility To Increase With New Facility The nation of Iraq continues to benefit from the gradual rebuilding and restoration that is taking place all across the nation. Recently, at the Kirkuk Air base, there was a runway that was rebuilt, and the rebuilt new runway recently opened to a ceremony on November 17th. The new runway will be able to serve the new Iraqi Air Force, and it was christened by Lieutenant Ali Karim, who is a pilot trainee with the new Iraqi Flying wing of the Iraqi Air Force. Runway 14/32 was resurfaced and reconditioned, it had been out of commission for about 3 months. With the rebuilding, the Kirkuk air base will be able to function at increased efficiency and its Air Force will be able to respond more swiftly with more runways in service. The runway was rebuild by soldiers from the coalition 506th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron, working with members of the US Army Corps of Engineers. Together they were able to restore the runway to full operational status. The project is now complete, and the time directed to looking for different pieces of debris and broken asphalt in the past now can be used for other issues. The revamped runway will also serve the coalition on occasion when needed to land planes, supplies or other equipment for the Iraqi Forces. Find the Military Career right for YOU !
