COB Adder, Iraq- Members of the coalition worked to partner with Iraqi Military forces, and together they worked to practice and refine their artillery skills recently at a fire training range in the Dhi Qar province last week. US coalition forces, along with members of the Romanian coalition support soldiers joined with Iraqi military forces to work on mortar and artillery skills, and to train with different artillery methods. Members of the 10th Iraqi Army worked in a team concept with 341st Romanian Infantry soldiers, and members of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry on different rocket projectile and mortar fire techniques. Each of the three military units had a observations military team taking notes on what was practiced and how they could possibly work in the future to improve and refine the artillery training. In addition to standard artillery equipment and methods, the joint forces worked to train using a variety of new mortar and shoulder fired projectile equipment. This type of equipment is new to the Iraqi military and the training received is considered “top of the line” and modern, and will assist the Iraqi forces in the continued modernization of their military equipment, training and methods.
