Coalition Forces Work With Iraqi Troops To Secure Area
Two Dozen suspected Terrorist suspects were captured and arrested by U.S. and Iraqi forces in Iraq over the past several days.
In operations that began last Friday, Coalition and Iraqi Forces targeted several different criminal networks. This led to the death of one enemy insurgent, and the capture of 24 others. Of the 24 prisoners, 2 were suspected “special groups leaders’ and were slated to be interrogated and questioned.
The action against the terrorists took place near Mashru in the area south of Baghdad. One of the two special leader terrorists was known to be a trained explosives expert and thought to be a trainer of splinter cell leaders in the area.
In another operation located west of Kadhimiya, Coalition and Iraqi ground troops were able to hunt and capture a senior terrorist criminal. This individual is a known group leader, and he is suspected of supplying different explosives and materials that have been used in several EFP attacks near Baghdad in recent weeks.
“Our joint Coalition and Iraqi Forces are continuing to engage and pursue the enemy, working to prevent terror activities throughout Iraq,” stated Navy Captain Vic Beck. Captain Beck is a Multi National Force spokesman.
“While we are winning the battle, Al-Qaida in Iraq remains a threat,” stated Army Major Winfield Danielson. “Coalition and Iraqi Forces are coming together, working and being successful in running to ground and eliminating the terror and insurgent threat, together,” said Major Danielson.
In further operations Coalition Soldiers arrested and detained 3 suspects in a suspected terrorist network near the city of Kirkuk.
