In the ongoing effort to win minds and hearts of the local Iraqi citizens, U.S. MiTT forces gave assistance and support to Iraqi Soldiers.

American Advisors and Soldiers from the 329th MiTT transition team accompanied Iraqi Soldiers from the 9th Iraqi Army, Mechanized Division as they passed out supplies and care packages.

Packages were delivered to the local people at the elementary school in Jerf Al Mila, in the NW part of Baghdad.  The school supplied that were donated, along with articles of food, clothing and other care packages were well received by the local citizens.

The packages were shipped and donated to the Iraqi people by U.S. Elementary school children that are from Sterling, Virginia.  The generous donation was from the Communion Lutheran Church Elementary School students and staff from Sterling, VA.

“The soldiers from the Iraqi 9th Army are really excited and happy to be able to do this,” said Sgt First Class Joshua Hoy.  Sgt Hoy is an intelligence and Signal non-commissioned officer who is attached to the MiTT 329th Military team.  The MiTT team is based out of Camp Taji, Iraq.

“All the planning and organization for this supply effort was done by the Iraqi 3rd Battalion troops,” said Captain Jason Fees, of 329th MiTT.  “They planned it very well, and even made sure there was sufficient security to protect the event, they networked with local Iraqi Sheiks and Leaders, they really made it happen,” said Captain Fees.
