quality-of-life-boosted-by-coalition-national-power-gridBaghdad, Iraq-  The region in and around Baghdad has grown a lot in the quality of the electric service in the last 18 months. Since 2007 the citizens of NW Baghdad have been able to access power for their businesses and home usage. There are a number of different projects, including micro generators, solar plants, power plants, as well as more and more overall electric grid programs that have worked to tie together the different projects and programs. With the backing of the Coalition, the Government of Iraq has been able to be more and more successful in giving electric service to their citizens. The Soldiers of the 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry, MNF Baghdad have been some of the soldiers that have been the most influential in working toward electric independence. The amount of energy that has been imported from surrounding countries, Turkey, Syria, and Iran has slowly been decreasing as the infrastructure of Iraq has grown. There are different projects involving diesel, gas turbine, hydro electric, and even thermal methods of power generation have been accessed and built. The amount of power that has been imported from the three surrounding countries has remained steady until recently, but with the added ability to generate power the country of Iraq has been able to increase the ability to provide electric service, with the citizens more and more able to access these power sources on a regular basis.
