Pakistan- Recently the US Marine Corps Commandant decided to visit units of his soldiers that are stationed in Pakistan. He traveled to Pakistan to speak with the top military officials located in the Country, and to discuss how to solve different issues that are taking place there.
More than a year has passed since General Conway began to urge that the focus of the Marines move to Afghanistan. Now, the political leaders as well as other military leaders also are in agreement, and there is expected to be a large increase of soldiers in Afghanistan over the next 12 – 18 months.
General Conway met with various members of the Pakistan military, and also had an opportunity to meet and discuss issues with different US military commanders on site in Afghanistan already.
This is the second trip to Afghanistan this year, and he is known for his plain talking and direct approach to different issues. He will continue to travel in the region, he will visit other units of US Marines on duty both in Afghanistan and also in Iraq. He will sit down and share chow with different units, to try and get a first hand look at the reconstruction in Iraq and wishing the US Marines on duty a happy holiday season.
