us-soldiers-assist-opening-library-in-douraBaghdad, Iraq-  One of the things that the U.S. Coalition soldiers and military forces have been central in has been the reestablishment of the different libraries and institutions in the nation of Iraq at large. Since the fall of Saddam Hussein and the resumption of life in Iraq, there have been a number of different libraries and schools that have been rebuilt due to efforts by U.S. Soldiers. Recently members of the MNF Division Iraq met with local Civic and government leaders on January 21st to commemorate the Doura Public Library in the Rashid District. The Library was the location where at one point a lot of heavy fighting occurred. With efforts and assistance, including money the Main Doura library has been re built, and efforts to support their obtaining additional cultural materials is also underway. The public library has room for about 10,000 books, and now also has a large number of personal computers for use by the Iraqi people and school children. This is an indication of how Iraq is coming into the new millennium and becoming a modern nation. “Iraq is working to provide emphasis on our civilization and education,” said Zahna Husoin, the supervisor that is assisting in media issues for the Doura Library. The Doura Library is able to function because of money time energy and effort provided by American and Coalition Soldiers.
