Washington, D.C.-With the changing of the guard at the Commander in Chief level, the focus on the national military has shifted. Now, there will be more attention given from this point on to the conflict in Afghanistan, and nothing could be more pleasing to the Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Commandants General James Conway is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and he has been vocal about the fact that he wants to transfer members of his U.S. Marine Corps to Afghanistan to help with the fight there.
On Friday General Conway requested that the Pentagon allow a number of U.S. Marines to deploy to Afghanistan for 7 months in a measured deployment.
“The time is right for our Marines to leave Iraq,” said Commandant Conway.
The Commandant believes strongly that battle trained veteran U.S. Marines, having done their duty and largely restored the country of Iraq could be used with effectiveness in Afghanistan to help bring it under control.
The issue is a favorite with the General, Conway believes that his Marines will be ultimately part of the solution and is anxious to get his U.S. Marine forces into Afghanistan where they can begin working and helping secure the country.

Having a stepson currently in Iraq for his second tour who loves the Corps, I can’t believe I’m having to ask you this question. Please tell me that you and other generals are watching with a keen eye what Obama is doing with the U.S. government and possibly the Constitution in the near future. Please remember that the oath you took is to protect and defend the U.S. constitution against enemies foreign and domestic. Then it says to obey the commander in chief. People are really scared by what they see Obama doing to this great Nation.
