us-soldiers-work-to-assist-election-site-securityBasrah, Iraq-While the nation of Iraq gets ready for national elections January 31st, the members of the U.S. Forces are ready to assist in any way they are asked to. They set up at different polling stations and facilities around the country of Iraq, and participated where requested by the Iraqi National Police forces.

As the election draws near, the members of the Coalition and the United States will be in a security and overwatch mode. The actual election is being supervised by the Iraqi Police officers and members of the Iraqi Security National Forces.

It is another sign of the health and progress of the nation of Iraq. Many international organizations are watching the elections closely, they are a symbol of the overall health of the nation of Iraq, and will be closely monitored by other democratic countries for any signs of fraud or election irregularity.

“Everyone will be able to vote in Freedom,” said Iraqi Police Officer Lieutenant Colonel Sattar Jabbar Awda.

Lieutenant Colonel Awda is the Executive Officer for the 1st Battalion of the National Police, Basrah division and one of the superior officers of the Iraqi forces that are working hard to oversee the voting and election operations.
