top-honors-awarded-to-us-air-force-engineering-unitJoint Base Balad- There are a number of different awards given out in the military, one of them is the Brigadier General Archie Mayes Award.

It recognizes the best and most accomplished Civil engineer programs for the year, and the 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron operating in Baghdad has won the award for year 2008.

The engineering flight of the 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron takes it all in stride, but they are proud of their accomplishments. “We are honored,” said Captain Roser, lead project manager for the Squadron.

The Squadron is made up of 30 airmen and the key to their success is their dedicated personnel. They have taken over from the squadrons that were assigned before.

One of the things that the squadron has done is work to transition the Balad base from the US Army to the United States Air Force. It is the Central Command area of responsibility that oversees services to more than 30,000 people and close to 8,000 different buildings and facilities.

The flight was instrumental in examining different projects that were planned, and the ones that were not needed or had expired were canceled. It was this cost cutting and money saving that assisted in them getting the award.
