There is a new F-16 squadron that is being sent to South Korea for support operations.They will be replacing the members of an Army Attack and reconnaissance helicopter battalion that is slated to pull out in March 2009.
The 13th Fighter F-16 squadron is based in Misawa Air Base Japan, but will be moving for a six month deployment over to South Korea. It is one where the entire squadron, support staff and mechanical staff operations will be moving, and it will last about six months in length.
They are part of the 35th Fighter Wing and will be operational about two weeks after arrival, give or take a few days. They are going to replace the 1st Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment Army battalion that will leave Camp Eagle in Wonju, South Korea.

The Army Battalion is headed home to Fort Carson Colorado. Later this year they will likely re deploy to either Afghanistan or back to Iraq.
The Apache attack squadron close air mission has been successful and they have worked hard to provide support and operational unity for the soldiers and fellow Servicemembers on the ground in Iraq.
