There are three types of exams. The Excelsior College Exam, or ECE are multiple choice objective questions. Sometimes they are essay questions. They are based mostly on undergraduate course and look at terminology and facts.
DSST tests are exams that are similar to end of course exams in college. They are the DANTES Subject Standard Tests.
Finally there is the CLEP tests themselves. There are 14 different CLEP tests and available in many locations either as paper based tests or computer taken tests.
