TROOPS RETURNNearly 150 members of the Utah National Guard are now returning home from Iraq. They have worked hard, and having been successful in a number of nation building and support operations, they are now returning home for a long deserved rest.

This Utah National Guard Unit deployed about 12 months ago in February and they have been working at a number of different missions in Iraq and Kuwait. They flew support for both U.S. Forces and Iraqi Security Forces, transporting men, equipment and munitions where needed.

The Unit equips, maintains and flies the UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopters. They used them well and were effective in moving personnel and equipment throughout Kuwait and Iraq.

They also flew support for a number of different humanitarian missions that worked to deliver much needed supplies and materials to the people of the region. Many of these types of supplies were donated by the people of the United States.

They will be replaced by another Unit, who will likely rotate out of Iraq in a year without replacement, as the number of soldiers and troops on the ground in Iraq continues to slowly decrease as part of the planned withdrawal.
