It’s rough out there for most people. Jobs are dwindling, and with them hopes for higher education, good benefits and opportunities for people like you and your family.
Those dreams don’t have to disappear. The National Guard can help make sure you reach every one of your personal, career, and educational goals, even in a rough economic climate.
Joining the Army National Guard may turn out to be one of the smartest things you ever do for yourself and your family…here’s why:
Earn Competitive Pay in a Time When Jobs are Scarce. We know it’s looking pretty grim out there for job prospects, and many people are giving up their hopes for jobs with benefits or skill training – just so long as they get a job.
The National Guard isn’t having it. They want to make sure you’re paid for your day’s work and receive the benefits you deserve. They’ll also make sure you and your family have access to health insurance, that you set up a solid retirement fund and that you can get the higher education that will help you for the rest of your life and career.
There are also several large cash bonuses available, including:
• Up to a $60,000 bonus for enlisting under Active First
• Up to a $20,000 bonus for certain jobs and units
• Up to a $15,000 bonus for prior service members in certain MOSs
• Up to a $2,000 bonus for helping recruit new guard members.
Get a Better Education through the Army National Guard. Whether you still need your GED, are looking into colleges or want to go into a specialized trade, the Army National Guard has ways to help you achieve your goals.
• GED: The National Guard’s GED Plus program helps you earn your high school degree
• College: Financial aid programs cover your tuition and expenses, and the National Guard also offers SAT and ACT preparation and testing to be sure you get into the best institution available
• Trade and vocational schools: The Guard offers an Educational Support Center to help all its guard members to get the training they need – including distance learning and alternative credit programs
Take Care of Your Family. Right now, it’s difficult to manage both your needs and your family’s. By serving in the National Guard, your benefits will also cover your family. That means they’ll never go without health insurance when they need it and they can take advantage of the same educational programs that help you.
Some of the benefits available to soldiers in the National Guard include:
• Retirement benefits
• Discounts for department stores, groceries, and lodging around the world
• Discounted health coverage from TRICARE
• Inexpensive life insurance plans
• Veteran’s Administration Home Loans
• Education programs for National Guard members’ spouses

How old do you have to be to join? What are some requirements? Do they help with schooling? What are some benefits? How much do they pay?

17 yrs old, citizenship, high school diploma or GED.
thy will help with schooling, as you can get the same GI Bill benefits as any other branch of the military.
The pay all depends on whether you are active at the time or just “drilling” one weekend a month. If drilling, you will get around $200 for each weekend. When active, pay can range from $1500/month to $7000/month depending on your rank.
