army-mom-reports-with-kids-at-fort-benningSometimes a Servicemember will be called upon to re enlist if they have skills or abilities that are needed. There are jobs and occupations that are vital to the United States efforts and because of that, occasionally there are members of the Inactive Ready Reserve activated.

Recently a Mom who served previously with valor on active duty was activated and reported to Fort Benning with her children in tow. Lisa Pagan chose to report for duty with her children to respect the process rather than try to avoid service. It was not convenient for her but she reported to Fort Benning as requested.

Most of the different jobs in the United State Military, from the infantry to skilled electronics and logistical positions are available. With the difficulty in finding work in many regions of the United States, it is estimated that less and less of the IRR will have to be activated.

“I guess I could have refused but I am a patriot and didn’t want to shirk my duty. I applied for a exemption but they need my job skills I guess, because I was denied,” said Mrs. Pagan.

Many people continue to join enthusiastically in the current difficult economic times, and many people serve their initial enlistment and then work to re enlist for the excellent pay and benefits.

The Army will give support and look at her situation before deciding what to do. The United States Army is very supportive of Veterans in Mrs. Pagan’s situation and will work with her to find a workable solution.
