2nd Stryker Cavalry Provide Equipment

2nd Stryker Cavalry Provide EquipmentTools And Materials Provide Industrial Jobs For Iraqi Men
Baghdad

Soldiers recently made a small but significant difference in the lives of residents of an Iraq village. They helped set up a center to recycle material from vehicles and military.  Members of Coalition Forces joined forces with local Iraqi citizens to create the Defense Re Utilization Office.

Members of the “Mule Skinner” detachment of 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment provided the necessary equipment and materials, and then helped construct the facility.  When at full strength the building and the business will employ as many as fourteen Iraqi citizens full time.

A small signing ceremony was held, and tools and supplies furnished on 31 October, and this marked the beginning of the local detachment of the Multi-National Force-Iraq.  This force has helped form an initiative to change the living standards among the local populace by helping provide needed employment.

Beginning for the first day, newly trained local citizens sat down with Regimental Support Soldiers from 2nd Stryker Cavalry.  On an ongoing basis the Military Unit will provide support, materials, escort duty, and other items to help the business partnership work. “This is a small thing but something that helps the local Iraqis to become a little closer to standing on their own,” said Spc Robert Edsel. Spc. Edsel is part of 2nd Cavalry and one of the inspectors for the new business partnership venture.

Team members from the Iraqi locals and soldiers from 2nd Cavalry both attended meetings and a week-long training course to prepare for the opening of operations.
