airlift-squadron-does-double-duty-in-bulgariaSometimes during the business of working overseas our soldiers and troops are able to help bring some joy to civilians and children. Recently the 37th Airlift Squadron had such an opportunity recently in the Medical Social Care home located in Silven, Bulgaria.

Pilots and Airmen from Ramstein Air Base visited the children during a lull in Operation Tharcian Spring 2009, a joint military training exercise they were engaged in with the Bulgarian Air Force.

During their day off last Thursday, they went to the Social Care home and brought various items for the children. They brought items from Ramstein Air Base such as baby formula, a rocking horse, toys, soccer balls, baby wipes and diapers, and other items.

Do you enjoy preparing food? There are culinary and food service training opportunities available in the United States Navy and Navy Reserve, click HERE for more information.

Air Force 1st Lieutenant Brad Crosson is a co Pilot with the 37th Airlift squadron, and he played with some of the children, joined in by many of his fellow airmen during the visit to the home. All the children were smiling as their visitors took time to talk with them, and delivered the soccer balls and toys.

Many different types of humanitarian aid is provided by members of the US Military, this is another example of our citizen soldiers and airmen giving back to the different civilian populations they serve.
