First Female Brigadier General Named To Mississippi Guard.

first-female-brigadier-general-named-to-mississippi-guardJackson, Mississippi-There is a new leader of the Mississippi National Guard, a female Brigadier General. She is the first brigadier General in the history of the National Guard in Mississippi.

Colonel Catherine S. Lutz is being promoted to the rank of Brigadier General, and she was promoted Saturday at the Jackson Mississippi National Guard headquarters. She has been serving at the Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. as the assistant to the chief nurse of the Air National Guard.

This is a great example of the different ways that the top leadership in the Military is being opened up to women. There are an increasingly amount of top leadership positions being made available to women, and Colonel Lutz is one of the first brigadier generals in the National Guard.



She will be the leader of the Mississippi Air National Guard 172 Airlift wing, and she began her career in 1982 as a flight nurse. She has gradually rose through the ranks, and now will assume the rank of Brigadier General.

    I was a marine whom served under Col Lutz in Iraq and I must say, despite the diffrences between our branches she rocked.
