Jefferson City, Missouri- Many businesses that are located next to military bases are actually financial companies that offer so called payday loans. Some of these loans are given for rates of interest that are in effect nearly 600 or 700 percent or even higher for short, swift repayment loans of periods such as 2 weeks.Most employees of State jobs lose their pay from the state of Missouri after three weeks. The new legislation would block the payday lenders from being located near military bases, and the legislation would also provide for state workers to keep part or all of their state pay.

The Missouri Bill is sponsored by Stephen Webber, D- Columbia who was a patriot and served his country in Iraq. He stated that 280 Missouri Servicemembers would likely lose otherwise about $3.8 million dollars in salaries this year.
