4th Combat Engineers Return To Hero Welcome In Tennessee

081026-M-9389C-163Knoxville, Tennessee- After a tour of seven months, the East Tennessee Marine Reserves 4th Combat Engineer Battalion flew into Knoxville last Sunday, and the citizen soldiers went home to their families located across the region.

“Its good to be home, and to be close to family again,” said Reservist Marine Corps Unit member Aaron Tolx.

The members of the Marine Reserves are all volunteers, they join for the quality training and engineering experience, as well as the benefits for their families. Full medical, paid vacations, and a chance to serve their country while being on a job that is not subject to layoffs and terminations is very attractive to many people. The Unit have been working in the field in Iraq, working on various types of Engineering and construction jobs, as well as providing support to other units assigned in the field.

The Tennessee Reserve Unit rotated home, with another Marine Reserve unit relieving them, and the 49 reservists from the unit were able to return to their families for a well deserved rest. They flew into the McGhee Tyson Airport to the south of Knoxville on Sunday morning, and then were dismissed to rejoin their families.

Tennessee Reserve Marine and U.S Army Units have served proudly in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and they continue to provide service during their various tours of duty. Many people are enlisting during this difficult economic time for the pay, the combat and hazard extra pay, and the guaranteed Montgomery GI Bill opportunities as well as other options.
