clip_image008If you have a special interest in mental health and psychology issues, a career path in the Army may be an avenue to explore with an Army military recruiter. As a mental health specialist or counselor, you will be providing necessary and needed mental health services to military personnel.

Mental Health Specialist

Today, there is a substantial need for mental health specialists in the Army. Military service is stressful and service members often need assistance integrating their military experiences or adjusting to civilian life. Mental health specialists provide mental health treatment and management services to soldiers on both outpatient and inpatient settings. Additionally, mental health specialists collect information including case history and medical information for medical records and maintain those records, provide counseling and treatment services, assist with the treatment of psychiatric patients and assist in the treatment of drug and alcohol abuse issues.

Some of the issues that a mental health specialist might be addressing with soldiers include depression and suicide, post traumatic stress syndrome, drug and alcohol abuse issues, feelings of loss and trauma, grief, stress, adjustment, anxiety and aggression.
