The parliament speaker of Iran, Ali Larijani warned this Monday that the US is to be held responsible for any attack made by Israel. His reasoning was that “No politician or person in the world can imagine that the Zionist entity can lead an operation without getting the green light from the United States.” He continued to issue a stark warning towards the US saying, “We will consider the Americans responsible in any adventure launched by the Zionist entity.” Iran’s response to an attack by Israel would be aimed at the US and be “decisive and painful.”
All this fuss comes from what Vice President Biden said in an interview on Sunday. “Israel can determine for itself, it’s a sovereign nation, what’s in their interest and what they decide to do relative to Iran and anyone else.”
I think it is absolutely insane that Iran would threaten the United States because of the actions of Israel. When the United States engages a nation in war, our enemies do not come after Israel. If Israel makes an attack on Iran, I don’t believe that we should be held liable. I agree that if Israel does attack, the US probably didn’t discourage the action. However even if we agreed that they should attack, it is not the United States making a move. I think that this is nothing more than an attempted scare tactic by Iran. Iran is trying to flex their muscles to ward off any attacks and problems. I don’t believe that they would actually come after the US. A war of that proportion could be devastating to Iran. I hope and believe that these remarks are nothing more than hollow threats based on insecurities.
