Perhaps you have seen it coming, I must confess I did not. Russia is now developing missiles which are capable of counteracting attacks from space based military systems. Who is going to operate these space based missile systems? The United States will be pioneering this new field of space missile technology. The commander of Russia’s air force stated, “We are building new missiles that will be capable of defending not only against air-defense systems but space-based systems.”
The commander went on to describe estimates that by the year 2030 the US and several other nations will establish space missile systems which could hit Russia with precise accuracy.
The commander stated, “Foreign air forces, above all the United States, will acquire the capability to deal time-synchronized precision strikes on a global scale at virtually any target on Russia territory.” The commander elaborated to say that the threat is no longer virtual but very real.
Do you believe that Russia’s skepticism of US missile systems is justified? Could you picture the United States attacking Russia any time soon? While I do not envision this happening, everyone regularly forgets that the cold war ended just 20 years ago. There will continue to be serious trust issues between the US and Russia for generations to come. Overall I am simply shocked that the US is going to start deploying space based missile systems. It is a great idea but it does feel like we are blurring the line between real life and a science fiction novel.
